BRIEF HISTORY OF ICT DEPARTMENT

The history of technology in the whole world shows that each and every year, there is a big ICT evolution on high speed and the users have been very many even in the countries under-development.

Rwanda Tourism University College (RTUC) is a High Educational Institution that provides under-graduate programs in Hotel & Tourism. RTUC was established on the 1st of July 2006 within the central of Kigali city, using only about 20 computers in the ICT Laboratory and about 10computers in the offices.

Later on, due to the expansion and the demand to implement the strategic business plan in the near future, RTUC moved to a new premise, Inind-House, Kicukiro Sonatubes, where ICT Department is having three Laboratories together with about 130 computers + 40 computers in the offices all together with their accessories like printers, scanner and photocopier.

NB: all these computers + laptops are connected to the internet of high speed connection of 2.5Mbps provided by New-ARTEL.

In the near future, we focus to shift to the new spacious and exorbitant grounds at Mont Rebero where we look forward to build a complex superstructure comprised of a short course training center, a University, a Mini-hotel and a recreative center.

To address the potential for a disruption of IT infrastructure in RTUC, which affects actually all staff and students, affects again leadership and change control due to communicating facility in the RTUC premises; in order to adapt their existing risk management practices to the more complex, integrated environment resulting from the ICT department team.
